On 19 April 2023 HVG Law LLP, EY and EY-Parthenon, in cooper­a­tion with the Blockchain Netherlands Foundation (BCNL), hos­ted an Expert Hour on the Mar­kets in Crypto Assets reg­u­la­tion (MiCA). Dur­ing the Expert Hour  the focus was on answer­ing sev­er­al linger­ing ques­tions sub­mit­ted by par­ti­cipants related to both the leg­al inter­pret­a­tion and the scope of MiCA.

In view of the MiCA reg­u­la­tion being pub­lished today in the Offi­cial Journ­al, our blo­g­post sum­mar­ising the Expert Hour could (still) be helpful/insightful.
Note how­ever that the applic­a­tion dates have now been added, MiCA will apply from 30 Decem­ber 2024. Titles III and IV (i.e. pro­vi­sions on asset-ref­er­enced tokens and e-money tokens issu­ing) shall apply from 30 June 2024. See also para­graph 4 of art­icle 149 MiCA for addi­tion­al derog­a­tions to the applic­a­tion date where cer­tain pro­vi­sions will apply from 29 June 2023.
