De Jong Verpakking (DJV) is a specialist in corrugated board packaging for the fruit and vegetable industry and is the largest independent producer of corrugated board in the Netherlands. De Hoop paper mill is committed to operating a sustainable and environmentally responsible manufacturing site and it currently manufactures containerboard products from 100% recycled fibre with a total capacity of 370,000 tonnes per year and is located in Eerbeek. The paper mill has a lot of potential and fits well within the portfolio of DJV.

The demand for corrugated board packaging is increasing rapidly. The acquisition fits in well within DJV’s growth ambitions and strategy to be a sustainable integrated packaging company. Part of the agreement is that DS Smith will remain involved with the paper mill in the role of supplier to and buyer.
