With the refinancing North Sea Port can continue to play an important role in the region in the coming years in the field of employment and sustainability, among other things with the strategic plan ‘Connect 2025’ that was approved by its shareholders in the autumn of 2021. In this plan, North Sea Port formulates specific ambitions to further develop the cross-border port area in the coming years. Central to this is the focus on economic development and employment, on sustainability and the climate and on ensuring a financially sound basis.
North Sea Port plays an important role in realising European climate policy in the port area of Zeeland and Flanders. This includes preparing the ports for hydrogen and the circular use of CO2. But also, for example, offering shore power for inland shipping. This requires major investments for a sustainable infrastructure.
