Our services
Competing in a highly regulated sector
The energy sector is strictly regulated. The Netherlands Authority for Consumers & Markets (Autoriteit Consument & Markt, ACM) monitors compliance and enforces specific energy regulations, such as the Electricity Act 1998, the Gas Act, the Heating Supply Act and the rules laid down in a variety of European regulations and delegated legislation. To this end, the ACM has a wide range of powers to enforce compliance with energy regulations.
In light of the energy transition, companies are increasingly confronted with questions of energy law, the answers to which require specific knowledge and know-how. Our energy law experts have the knowledge and experience required to assist you in these matters and to guide you through the maze of regulations in the energy sector. HVG Law’s energy team deals with any legislative and regulatory issues relevant to the industry. Our specialists have extensive experience in this field, both in administrative and civil law proceedings. We advise large energy companies, but also start-ups, project developers, service providers, public authorities, investors, banks, traders and (public and private) network operators.
Our specialists can assist, advise and represent you in administrative law proceedings before the ACM or other (regulatory) bodies.
