In 2017, the Amersfoort school boards and the Municipality of Amersfoort agreed that, in the future, the school boards would be responsible for the construction of new school buildings and replacement of their existing buildings.

To that end, the school boards entered into a partnership, by setting up two cooperatives. In addition, those cooperatives entered into a long-term agreement for further decentralisation of the school buildings with the municipality.

The duties of the school boards regard the replacement/renovation of 100 school buildings over the next 40 years.
